Hello everyone!
We would like to re-remind you all of some important dates coming up:
Performances
Saturday, December 10
Shorncliffe (1 pm) and Totem Lodge (1:30 pm)
If your dancer is involved in any of these performances you will have already received notification.
Parent Viewing
December 5 – 9. Don’t forget to attend the first of our viewing sessions. Family and friends are invited to come and watch their dancer’s classes.
ISTD exam classes are reminded that we encourage students to dress in all black for parent viewing week.
Parent Volunteers
We need a parent representative for each dance class. Preparation for our year end performance will begin in January. We are looking for people to sew, shop, collect costume fees and generally help organise the creation of the dancers’ costumes with direction from the instructor. It is only with your help that the show will go on. Kindly advise the office, or the teacher involved, as to which classes you wish to volunteer for.
Fees
All outstanding Semester 1 fees must be paid before the winter break.
Friendly Reminder
If your child is staying at the Dance Academy in-between classes, please remind him or her that correct behaviour is essential. The office is closed as of 6 pm therefore there is no adult presence outside the studios. The Academy is happy for the students to wait for their classes on the premises but is not responsible for their supervision outside of their classes. We encourage everyone to help the children to work towards respecting each other personally, each others’ belongings, and the property.
Winter Break
December 11 – January 8
Make up classes
December 12 (all regular Monday classes)
December 13 (Tuesday Acrobatic classes only)
December 16 (all regular Friday classes)
Year End Costume Fees
Parent viewing week is a good opportunity to stop by the office and pay your dancer’s costume fees. Cash only Please. (Pre-school – Primary level $20 per class & all classes above primary level $30 per class).
Winter Show
Our pre-professional dancers and competition team will be performing two shows at The Heritage Playhouse on February 5, 2017. All proceeds will go towards dance Bursaries that our students can apply for in their grade 12 year. Tickets will go on sale when the school reopens in January.
Good luck!
We would like to wish Megan Doyle all the best as she heads off to Germany to compete with Team Canada. Megan is the third student of ours to dance with Team Canada. Kristie Sita (now a CAD teacher) and Jasmyn Evered both travelled to Europe three years ago and had incredible experiences. Go Megan!
Thank you! Julie Izad
